Lucy Boo
Update for Lucy Boo (February 11, 2008)
I wanted to give you an update on Lucy Boo. She's a dog who we adopted from you 13 months ago. (she's in your "adopted from foa" section on the website) We are still absolutely crazy about this little gal. Here is just one story of many as to why this gal has stolen our hearts.
One day last week I got up from the computer and in my hurry forgot to look for my 85 pound lab, Abby, who always sits with me. She's black and hard to see when it's a little darker in our home. Well, as has happened many times in the past I tripped over her. I fell face down onto the floor. I was not able to move because I was in such pain in my legs, hips and arms. Little Lucy came over and first licked my face and then in all the seriousness she could muster up, she pushed her head under my chin to lift my head off the floor. I was able to get up on my elbows at this point. She stayed right where she was and pushed and pushed until she had the rest of my torso under her and held me up until I could grab a hold of the counter to upright myself! This little 45 pound dog helped me off of the floor!! She never ceases to amaze us! She was truly a blessing on that day and every day we have her. This dog has been an wonderful loyal friend and we feel so blessed to have her in our lives. She's still herding the cats and is one of the happiest dogs you'll ever see. While herding cats, it is impossible to get her attention. We always say that "she's working". It's her job and she loves every second of it. We can't even spell the word "k-i-t-t-y" anymore because "t-t" sounds too much like "kitty". She caught onto that right away. Way too smart!
Anyway, just sharing our little joy. We call her a "little mamma" because she is always fixing wounds we have or cleaning the other dogs. (not to mention cleaning the cats butts!) She's a treasure.
Thanks for everything!
My name is Lucy Boo. I was named Boo at the FOA shelter. Mom says I am cute mixed with cute, but I'm really something like border collie mixed with sheltie. I can't imagine life any better than it is. I have a nice big sister (Lab mix) and brother (Chow mix) here and get to do what I love most...herd cats! I LOVE the kitties! I have my very own, his name is "The Baby" really, but they now call him "Lucy's Kitty" because him and I are best friends. He's crazy about me and I'm crazy about him. I love him almost as much as I love my mom and dad! They adopted me in January of 2007 when I was about 4 months old. They say I'm the perfect fit for their family and have brought out the "puppy" in the old dogs here. My life is good and I thank FOA for finding my new family for me. I will live the rest of my life in a home where I know I am loved!
